Leading with Context: Lessons from Atlassian’s AI Journey: This report reveals the five questions driving our transformation, the frameworks we tested, and what actually accelerated and improved delivery. |
| Rovo is now available for Atlassian HIPAA organizations
Rovo is now covered under Atlassian's existing Business Associate Agreement (BAA) for eligible customers. Healthcare organizations and other HIPAA-covered entities can now use Rovo's AI-powered capabilities in a compliant way, in alignment with their regulatory obligations. Administration
Self-serve app provisioning with CMK/BYOK is live! Org admins can now self-provision enterprise-eligible CMK products (Confluence, Jira, JSM) directly from Atlassian Administration in minutes.
Create custom notes when users request access to apps: You can now add custom notes to guide users on how to request access to apps when both Request access and Direct access are disabled for internal domains. These custom notes can include instructions or links to 3rd-party ITSM tools to help your users understand how to gain access to apps.
Admin Digest July 2026: This bi-monthly roundup gives you a look at what’s new and upcoming in Atlassian Administration. Each edition covers a different admin focus area, from protecting and governing your environment to scaling your org structure and governing AI, and more. System Health (all editions); Release Notes (public); Backup & Restore (Premium/Enterprise); Sandbox Configuration Deployment (Premium/Enterprise); Original user management (Enterprise)
See all the users and groups in your organization: This update is relevant for customers with the original user management experience. We’ve rolled out two new pages in Atlassian Administration: Users and Groups, which you’ll find under Directory. We’ll also move managed accounts into the new Users page, so you don’t have to look in two pages for user accounts. Enterprise
Goals & Projects
Goal and Project automations are here! This is just the first iteration, so please continue to share your use cases and feedback to help us prioritize the next set automation features.
OAuth 2.0 support for Goals and Projects API is now available: We now support OAuth 2.0 (both 2LO and 3LO) for our Goals and Projects APIs.
Changes to Goals & Projects including features available with Strategy Collection: We continue to invest in Goals and Projects for all customers, and the core Goals and Projects experience will remain the same. Some customers are managing goals at a scale that demands more and to meet that need, we're building new capabilities for enterprise governance and cross-portfolio coordination.
75+ more smart values are now discoverable in Automation: Some of these smart values were already available but weren’t visible or easy to discover when building rules. Now you can use these smart values directly from the panel in Confluence and Jira, with descriptions and clearer terminology to help you understand what they do.
Confluence
New in Confluence: Fit to content for table resizing: Fit to content adjusts the overall table width and column widths to better match the content inside your table, all with one click. Select a table and click the Fit to content button in the table toolbar.
Whiteboards and Databases Are Now Supported in Atlassian MCP v2 and CLI: Customers can now use agents to create, read, and edit Whiteboards and Databases via tools like Rovo Dev, Claude, and Codex. For example, you can use MCP or CLI to have agents create a whiteboard for an upcoming brainstorming session, understand key themes from all of your retrospective whiteboards, and add entries to your databases.
Confluence Performance: Roughly 2x Faster, Again: During FY26, we worked across viewing, editing, page weight, and regression prevention so you get pages that appear sooner, settle faster, and become ready to use more quickly.
Approvals in Confluence, now on Open Beta: We’ve heard a consistent theme from customers: teams want Confluence to stay flexible for everyday collaboration, while also supporting the moments that need more control, accountability, and traceability. That’s exactly what approvals are designed to do. Open Beta, Premium/Enterprise
Jira
Introducing the Jira 2026 Summer Release: Our first release for Spring 2026 brought agents to Jira, a new For You page, guest access, and better admin controls. The Summer 2026 release is about making everyday parts of Jira faster, simpler, and more powerful. All of these features are rolling out now and will be generally available for all Jira Cloud customers by the end of August 2026.
A clearer, more focused Jira work item view is coming: Starting 10th August, we’re opening a Beta of the redesigned Jira work item view. The redesign brings your most important actions and information front and center and makes the overall experience clearer and more focused for every team, whether technical or not. This is a UI and experience uplift, not a change to how Jira works.
Configuring Security/Visibility for Jira Work Items: What if you have some work that you can’t share with everyone? Did you know there’s a security scheme for that?
Workflow Properties in Jira: Restricting Status Transitions to Specific Groups: Properties are meant for cases that go beyond the permission scheme. Community Champion
One place to see what your agents did, what they need, and what’s ready: Your For You page surfaces recommended work items, notifications, and quick actions. My agent sessions is a new section on your Jira For You page that pulls every agent session you’re running and organizes them by what needs you first.
Custom User Onboarding with Jira and Loom: This webinar demonstrated the features in Jira and Loom that allow you to create a custom user onboarding experience for new employees, showing how you can leverage these apps together to effectively onboard new teams at scale. Loom | 24 min.
🚀Now Live: Native Formula Fields in Jira! Formula Fields allow you to run real-time calculations directly on Jira work items. By automating these calculations within Jira, you can ensure data remains accurate and actionable without needing to export to external spreadsheets.
GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Claude are now native action steps in Jira Automation: Set a trigger and Jira invokes your coding agent automatically with the full work item context passed before the session starts. Teams are using this to patch vulnerabilities, clean up stale feature flags, generate test coverage, and triage bugs.
Try out Jira’s new triage agent and share your thoughts: Instead of new work items sitting unlabeled, unprioritized, and unassigned in your backlog, the agent gets to work the moment a work item lands. Watch this Loom video for a walk through of the agent and steps on how to get started.
AI Agents in Jira: Your top questions, answered: We recently hosted the webinar From idea to shipped PR: Agents at work in Jira showcasing how we’re evolving Jira for AI-native software development. We didn’t quite get to all the questions, or to the detail we’d like, so we’ve collected the frequently-asked questions and want to provide some answers here.
Help us decide which space settings your team members should see: Today, space settings are completely hidden from non-admin users. We're exploring giving team members read-only visibility into certain settings pages, so they can self-serve answers without needing to come to you. But we want to get the boundaries right: which settings should be visible, which should stay admin-only, and are there things you'd actively want to keep hidden? 30 min. | $75 digital gift card | Feedback Opportunity
Jira Automation: Flag Tickets Added After the Release Freeze Date: A Fix version has a Start date and a Release date, but not a freeze date. Before you can automate the freeze, you have to give Jira a freeze date it can actually read. Community Champion

A connected, well-maintained knowledge base is what turns Rovo in JSM from a nice-to-have into a genuine productivity multiplier for your team. Whether you're starting from zero, managing knowledge scattered across multiple tools, or trying to keep your knowledge base from going stale, we've built something for every stage of that journey.
Making Knowledge-Centered Service Real in JSM: KCS treats knowledge as a byproduct of solving requests, not as a separate documentation project you never get around to. This article shares how each part of the KCS loop maps to something you can implement in your cloud environment, rather than leaving it as theory. Community Champion

You don't have a platform problem. You have an operating model problem. Organizations moving off legacy ITSM tools onto JSM often cite cost reduction, with the goal of re-platforming quickly and moving on. When there are hundreds of reports, queues, forms, SLAs, and fields layered on top, they system first needs to be redesigned. Community Champion

Jira Product Discovery
Data Security Policy support is here for Jira Product Discovery! Until now, JPD spaces content wasn’t covered by DSP which meant a gap in full policy compliance. This update closes that gap, bringing JPD in line with how other Jira products honor Guard DSPs.
Bitbucket
Agentic Pipelines: In this Bitbucket Blitz video, Atlassian Warren Marusiak walks through a path pipeline that creates fully working repositories from a template and uses an agentic step to read a design spec from Confluence, rewrite the app's frontend to match, and open a PR for review. YouTube | 19+ min.
