The world we are experiencing today is quite a bit different than even a few months ago. While a global pandemic is the forcing function of change today, it reminds us that the world is always changing. It’s up to businesses in how fast they respond and quickly adapt that makes, quite literally, all the difference. One of the many adaptations we made was to change our annual Summit from an in-person event to a 100% remote event. We hope you had the opportunity to attend our first Remote Summit! We shared updates across all of our products, including Jira Align, in various keynotes and presentations.
So we are excited to share with you, some changes that are here now or coming soon, for Jira Align!
As a reminder, you can always review past release notes and schedules. We have had a lot of enhancements to the product over the past 6 months, but today we’re going to focus on 3 areas to improve your move towards enterprise agility.
While we have supported objectives and key results (OKRs) within Jira Align for some time now, we are strengthening how OKRs are created, managed, and reported on. With these new OKR management capabilities in Jira Align, you can create a single source of truth for your objectives. We want this to be your single source of truth for objectives.
Streamlined OKR Creation
OKRs are new for some companies so we wanted to make it extremely easy to walk you through setting these OKRs up within Jira Align. We broke this into 3 phases:
Define the objective: set up the timeframe for the objective, any parent objective it aligns to, and how often you want to be reminded to update the status of the KR.
Add key results: Provide your KR, the baseline percentage, the measurable goal to obtain, and the target completion date.
Align work to the objectives: The biggest differentiator for Jira Align is the ability to tie all of the work in progress to your company’s OKRs. We make it simple to add all work items, from themes to stories, that support achieving the OKR.

Once you have your OKRs setup in Jira Align, you’ll be able to track the progress of how you’re achieving the goals your OKR set out. Under the “Overall objective score,” you’ll notice two progress bars. One is your “key result progress” that you update yourself, and the other is “aligned work progress” which progresses as work is being completed.
Not only can you not track the progress of your OKRs, but you can drill down into all of the work that is aligned to those OKRs.

And you’ll be able to centrally manage and track all of your OKRs from a single dashboard:
New Trello Power-Up
We are very excited to announce a new Atlassian built Power-Up for Trello. This power-up is for teams looking to add some more agile structures to their Trello boards. With the new Power-Up, you can add work item types, points, and owners to each of your Trello cards!
Additionally, we’re adding a couple of lightweight reports for you to track how your team is performing. The Burnup Chart and Cumulative Flow Diagram reports let you view the overall flow of work from either a scrum or kanban lens.
Now while everyone can use the Power-Up on its own, there is one added benefit for those companies that are also using Jira Align. With the new structure added to the boards, you can easily add the Trello boards into your Jira Align instance with our Trello Connector. Keep your teams in Trello, while still capturing their work in Jira Align.
Portfolio leaders choose Jira Align to help them make better decisions faster. Large enterprises, however, typically have really large data initiatives, projects, and workstreams in place. You’ve probably created a data lake already, that combines multiple data sources into a single source of truth. We want to make sure you have the ability to take your data in Jira Align and add it to your data lake.
Enterprise Insights for Jira Align allows companies to do just that. All of your data in Jira Align can easily be explored in your favorite Business Intelligence (BI) solution or added to your company’s existing data lake or data warehouse. Analyze your Jira Align data against your Salesforce data, SAP data, finance data, or any other data set you have.
So while you can explore the data in the context of your business, we are always looking for ways to do more for you with your data in Jira Align. With things moving quickly for you, we want to find better ways to help you work smarter, not harder.
We’ve been working hard on a long term initiative to bring artificial intelligence into Jira Align, and we’re happy to show you the first step in our journey! We are bringing predictive analytics to Jira Align that look at historical and current working trends, in order to provide better warnings when your Program Increment is off track and likely to miss the objectives you set out at the start. This insight
gives program and portfolio managers an early warning system, to get the program back on track and meet your delivery schedule.
