1. when you type "/" and the menu opens up with those widgets, what are those called?
2. I have seen it before but forgot what its called. Doesn't confluence (without extra add-ins) have some type of gnat chart or visual project tracker? I need a timeline visually to plot out some projects.
Hi, @ardian krivca 👋 Welcome to the community!
Confluence does not come with a Gantt macro. You'd have to choose and install one from the Atlassian Marketplace.
You can choose one that's purpose-built for Confluence, or choose one that's built for Jira and has a Confluence macro. The advtg. of the latter is that both Jira and Confluence users would benefit from access to Gantt in their preferred environment.
Here's a search you may wish to use (of course, you can/should create your own):

I hope this helps,

actually, I found my answer... insert->roadmap planner.
@Dave Rosenlund _Trundl_ - can you please tell me whats the name of those "widgets"? Are they all called apps? for example is the "roadmap planner" considered an app?

Ahh... I suppose I should have mentioned the Roadmap Planner. I believe it is the companion to Jira <Advanced> Roadmaps.
In my defense, most people do not consider that to be a true Gantt chart. For example, you cannot depict dependencies.
Confluence widgets/apps/add-ons/helpers are called "macros" but I am afraid I am not exactly sure why. Sorry.
Educated guess = these are not true, standalone applications. I.e., they are not their own SaaS — they are macros that you add that get added into your Confluence cloud.
Maybe someone else will chime in with a better, more complete explanation. 😊

You may know something we don't, @Dave Collins. Please say more. And maybe share a screenshot?
AFAIK, unless you have a Confluence add-on for it, there's still no out-of-box Gantt chart for Confluence. And I just double-checked in a couple of different cloud instances to make sure this was still true.
Happy to be proven wrong though — it wouldn't be the first time 🙂
Best,

Confluence offers various ways to draw timelines.
You can find a summary in this article if you like.
