Hi everyone,
I'm having an issue with numbered lists in Confluence. I want to create a list with sub-items in the format 1, 1.1, 1.2, 2, but when I press the Tab key to create a sub-level, it automatically switches to an alphabetical numbering (a., b., c.)instead of keeping the numeric structure (1.1, 1.2, 1.3, etc.).
Is there a way to adjust the automatic numbering in Confluence so that sub-items remain numeric? Or is there a workaround to achieve the desired format?
Hello, @Omar Bouchouari . I hope you are doing well.
Unfortunately, numbered headings cannot be fully customized in Confluence. However, in this an article you can find some workaround to number headings in Confluence.
Another solution would be some paid apps in the Atlassian Marketplace that might provide this feature.
I hope it helps.

Short answer is no.
Having said that... the ordered/number list in Confluence is primarily used to denote a sequence of steps that must be performed in the specific order.
Your desired pattern is typical for, for example, legal documents where there's a need to reference specific section from another place in the text and/or external documetns.
There may be an app for that.
If you just want to convey the sequence, I'd stick to Confluence's native numbered lists as they convey the meaning better.

@Omar Bouchouari as @Kristian Klima mentioned for more advanced options your best bet is to evaluate a numbered headings apps then determine if solves the problem and offer enough value to pay. I personally evaluate at least two, I find it speeds up testing.
Three companies makes them, see them, we make one of them, the other two companies have two apps each so five in total. Costs vary.

Actually, @Omar Bouchouari ... just to clarify, are you looking for numbered headings within a page (that can be sorted with an app) or a non standard pattern for numbered list indents?
I think it's the latter but I wonder if I misunderstood your question :)

Preferably apps that are free, since I need only numbered lists.
