Happy New Year Everyone!
For those of you that have taken some time off during the holidays, (like me) I hope you have had a very relaxing time and you are ready to dive right into 2023. I had some really positive feedback about this new format, so we are going to keep it going! Without wasting anymore time, we have a power house collection for you to check out this time. Let’s get started!
As always, there are a TON of amazing things happening and here is just a small sample of all the great things you don’t want to miss out on!
First up, SOC2 is becoming a more important certification for many companies (including my own). If you would like to learn more about what Atlassian is doing to comply with this, you should check out what they have posted.

Next, Atlassian is moving away from from full page issue create screen to a more modern modal experience. You may have already seen this rolled out in your Cloud instance and personally I really enjoy the flexibility of not having a tab completely occupied with creating an issue when I need to confirm some information from another issue within Jira.

Are you interested in speaking at an ACE event? Either locally or remote? If you have something valuable to share with other community members, you should consider volunteering to be a speaker at an upcoming event.

If you missed out on Codegeist or you enjoyed it so much that you want another Hackathon to dive into, you are in luck! Devs Unleashed is a brand new hackathon that is running right now until Jan. 15th. The best part? Your objective is to create a game in Forge powered by Atlassian data. How cool is that!

Related to the hackathon, Atlassian’s next event will be taking place February 9th digitally and in person in Berlin. This will be the first event focused on Agile & DevOps. You can register now, and I’d recommend doing so to ensure you won’t forget!

Next up, when it comes to Atlassian Community leaders (like myself) there are a number of incorrect assumptions about who these people are and the role they play. This article was written to help dispel a number of these misconceptions.

Did you know that there is an Atlassian University course for Trello? I didn’t! @Paul Wiggers does a great job of outlining everything you can learn from this course, you should check it out.

I really enjoyed reading this article and it really hit home for me. I’m the type of person that keeps my email inbox as clean as possible. However, I will always leave “unfinished“ items in my inbox until I take care of them (even if that takes upwards of a week or so). The idea of having something in your face to remind you of something you planned to take care of can’t always be replaced in a digital form.

I really struggle to “turn things off“. This was a great article by @Peter Van de Voorde sharing how important it is to your personal well-being. If you are like me, I recommend reading it. You may not be able to change 100% but it might help you find somewhere to start.

Finally, getting into the holiday spirit, the folks at K15t have put together a Confluence Advent calendar. I highly recommend sharing with with everyone, but especially those that are completely in love with Confluence!

Keeping with the holiday theme, if you want to have a little fun with the Jira Mobile app you can now change your iOS icon to something more festive! I really wish this was available for Android as well, but maybe next year!

This has been a long time coming, the old issue view in Jira is going away. Atlassian has slowly been phasing it out and as of Jan. 2023 it won’t be possible to use anymore. If this will affect you, you should check out this article and provide your feedback.

Many of you know my thoughts and feelings about Team managed projects. However, this is extremely cool and I think this is a great step forward in helping to make Team Managed projects play nicely with Company managed projects!

A really cool early “gift“ from the Compass & Jira Software teams, there is now a custom field available in Jira Software that will allow you to more closely link components from Compass! How cool is that! https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Compass-Alpha-articles/Happy-Holidays-from-Compass-Jira-Software/ba-p/2220299
I think this is by far the announcement I’m most excited about! Native Dark Mode is coming to Jira Cloud! This is the #1 requested feature from the users I support so I’m really happy to be able to tell them they finally get what they have been waiting for.

Jira Align doesn’t show up here often, but I thought this was a very comprehensive guide to understanding the various “roles“ within Jira Align and how to provide the most value to those people when consuming information from Jira Align. Are you like me and don’t really know much about Jira Align? Check this article out, it might help dispel some of the mystery surrounding it.

Not too many people are familiar with Atlassian Analytics as it is currently only available to Cloud Enterprise customers. But, this update on what Atlassian has made available sounded extremely cool. I hope that they will consider offering this feature to more subscription tiers in the future.

Finally, Bamboo is a product near and dear to me, and I wanted to make sure to share that version 9.1 for DC is now available!
