Atlassian Community Round-up: December 2023

Hello Everyone!

It’s that time once again to take a look at everything that has happened in the past month! From major events, to product announcements, to amazing people providing great tips & best practices to help the Community, I guarantee there is something here for everyone. Let’s get started!

Announcements & Highlights:

As always, there are a TON of amazing things happening and here is just a small sample of all the great things you don’t want to miss out on!

  • If you missed it, you will want to take action as soon as possible. Near the beginning of December, Atlassian posted multiple critical vulnerabilities. As I have said in the past, and I’ll say again, please check to see if they affect you and do everything you need to in order to protect yourself and your company.

  • As of writing this article, Community notification emails are still being marked as spam. Hopefully this has been corrected as of this being published. If not, don’t forget you can use your activity feed in the community to help you keep up to date on things.

  • The end of a community era is upon us. The old badge system is going away as kudos is the future. If you have been around long enough to have earned at least 50 of the old badges. You will be awarded a special kudos badge in honour of the old system.

  • Are you new to the Atlassian Community and trying to figure out where you should start? Or maybe you are a veteran who enjoys welcoming the new members to the community? Either way this article will very much help new folks find their footing.

  • What’s better than sharing some great moments from 2023? Sharing those moments for a great cause. Every comment helped clean 10 pounds of plastic form the ocean and provided a wonderful look at some of the best memories from the past year.

  • What else could you have done for a great cause? Shared a pic of yourself in a holiday sweater! The winner getting the opportunity to donate $250 to their local food bank. Not to mention, there are some amazing sweaters in the comments!

  • Did you know that there was an open community social event? Were you able to attend? I unfortunately was celebrating my daughter's birthday, but I hope everyone had a wonderful time, and hopefully this will be something we’ll see more often in the future!

  • Atlassian’s upcoming event Team Tour: Government is looking for people with excellent stories to share. As of this article being published, there are still a couple of days left to get your submissions in.

  • Atlassian Presents: Unleash happened at the beginning of December in Amsterdam. Where you able to be there live? If not, you have another opportunity, a number of local Atlassian Community will be hosting mini Unleash post events through the month of January. Be sure to check and see if there is one close by as you won’t want to miss it.

  • Finally, there is a new series of virtual events coming in the new year. A number of people who regularly create content will be hosting a number of live learning sessions about getting started with a number of the Atlassian products. If you would like the opportunity to learn and ask questions in real time be sure to sign up for these events!

I have been under the weather this weekend and today, but catching up on this video and article in the community has been like a shot of Vitamin-C. (C being for Confluence of course). 😃
