NextGen email notifications link to story with Classic layout / fields

Late last week, my email notifications from stories I'm following changed the format and I'm not able to find a setting to alter this.

What I've noticed is:

• The format appears to be text-only, but almost like broken HTML
• The links to the issue takes me to the Classic layout, not the NextGen layout (link sample: https://PROJECTNAME.atlassian.net/browse/KEY-XX?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels%3Acomment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=10101#comment-10101)

I'd like to return the HTML styling to the email notifications and have the story load using the NextGen format (since we aren't using the Classic project).

Any suggestions would be much appreciated.
