Export Jira assets from issue type project to IT Asset Management (ITAM).

josh.clearihan February 1, 2024

Hi there,

We recently migrated to Jira cloud. In the past we have managed out assets via a project within Jira using issue types, statuses, workflows and customer fields to manage our fleet of Assets.

Not that we are migrated (and have an Enterprise license)  IT Asset Management (ITAM) (formerly Insight) is available for us to use as a native app within Jira Cloud.

What is the best method in getting a large number of Assets (Issue Types) and related data, fields, statuses etc into the new Asset Management feature? I have searched online but cannot find much specifically with this problem except for exporting via csv.

Does anyone else have experience with the export of assets from a Jira Project to the import of those assets to IT Asset Management (ITAM) (formerly Insight) ?

Thanks in advance.

Good afternoon,

Would this link be something to help you forward :

Thanks @Diet Bos

I have reviewed that link in the past, but it doesn't contain an exact guide to export issues from a Jira project and importing them into the ITAM, matching attributes via CSV etc. There is certainly importing info for CSV and JSON but that is not from a Jira project.

I'm looking for a guide or high-level steps to export assets (Jira Issues) from a Jira project to the new Asset and configuration management cloud feature.
