Epic Link is an optional field but it is still required when a specific issue type is created

I checked the issue type screen scheme and field configuration scheme. It turned out nothing is unusual. But when I try to create a task, Epic Link is still required. How can I make it an optional field?

By default, the Epic Link field is not required when creating a task. So it's possible that you're being affected by a custom configuration.

I see that you've already checked the Field Configuration Scheme. However, here are some other ways the field might be made required:

• Workflow Validator: Check whether there's a validator on the initial step of your workflow.
  

• ScriptRunner Behaviour: It's possible that a behaviour is configured to make the field required.
