Using a column from excel to populate the Key

Michael Pierotti June 5, 2024

I have a spreadsheet I dump from a client's management program that I want to import into project management on jira, however, I want to use a specific column as the Key (Project ID from client)   but when I try and import it keeps complaining that there is no dash - and I don't want to use a dash for the key. Also, I want to be able to update certain fields the client changes and use the Key (Project ID from client)  such as dates certain items have been completed from either our client, or other vendors.

@Michael Pierotti Jira keys are created using the project key and a number the project key and number are separated by a dash making the issue key.  You can define the issue key if it has not been used in the system.  It will always have a dash though.
