Hi Jira Community! 👋
Are you ready for a new shortcut to efficiency? You can now seamlessly interact with Jira with just your keyboard! Use the command palette’s shortcuts to find work, perform actions on issues, and navigate to key places in all Jira products.
If you’ve never used a command palette, or have and want to provide direct feedback on the new experience, here’s your chance to ask us questions!
Start submitting questions below (yes, it says answers), upvote others' questions, and stay tuned as Emily will be answering anything and everything about how to use the command palette on November 1st, 2:00 pm PST.
It would be good if future iterations of the palette allowed us to add custom actions. For example, run a particular filter. I understand the need for some hardcoded actions like those already in the palette, but it would be even more useful if we could add our own.
Ooh, that's a cool idea.
Being able to invoke Manual Trigger Jira Automation rules from the Command Palette, for instance...

Hi Colum and Dave! We love these ideas, we'll keep these capabilities in mind as we continue to iterate on the command palette!

The previous '.' command menu had my workflow transitions available as top-level shortcuts. For example, I could type ".don⏎" and transition an issue to done.
With the new command palette, it seems like I have to first activate the "change status" top-level command, and then I can type in a transition, e.g. "⌘+K sta⏎ don⏎".
Have I missed something here? Are there any plans to elevate common instance-specific terms to the top-level?

Hey Chris! The difference between the ‘.’ menu and command palette for how users can interact with the workflow commands is by design at the moment. As we add more commands we’re wary of inundating the user with options and we want to keep the command palette as speedy as possible.
We don’t have plans right now to raise secondary issue actions to the top level menu. We’ll be keeping an eye on the feedback about it and look into it as the command palette grows in functionality!

Excited about this!!! What about the command in editor that is used for linking?

Hey Rachel! If you’re in a rich text field or editor and hit “CMD + K” you’ll still get your trusty linking menu and linking experience, anywhere else in the product and you’ll get the command palette! We don’t plan to replace “CMD + K” in editor either.

I'd be interested to know what's coming next for command palette!

Hi Christa! Thanks for the question! We’ve got lots planned for the command palette, first and foremost to add some more actions to allow you to complete common actions more easily. You’ll have to keep your eyes peeled on the cloud roadmap to find our more as these features get announced!

@Finch Grace - I'm loving the command palette!
Is the eventual plan to merge it with the GG shortcut thingy? Which I use all the time, but have no idea what it's called. 🫠

Hey Dave, glad you’re enjoying the capability! We plan to replace the “GG” shortcut menu and the “.” dot menu early next year. We have already replicated a lot of that functionality in the command palette and will be adding more before doing so - what actions do you usually take from the "GG" menu?

Good Morning,
I am new to Jira and discovering the platform little by little. I would like to know if it is possible to reset the Scrum name to 0.
Let me explain, I created around ten tickets initially, I deleted them to recreate them in another way. But the count did not start from 1 but from 11, 12…
Is there a history to reset the counter to 0?

@SERMANE SOUMARE - 👋 welcome Sermane! I recommend asking this question in the Jira section of this site: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira/ct-p/jira
(This page is for asking questions about the new Command Palette feature.)
Good luck!

Why do half of Jira's documentation instructions not work, and do you ever plan to make the documentation actually accurate?

Jira Cloud or Jira Data Center?
I've found that the DC instructions are generally accurate, but yeah, the Cloud docs don't always change as fast as the features are released in Cloud. 😬
Doesn't help that some Jira Cloud instances are on differing release tracks, and features are still phased out to customers in a not-so-obvious way.

Cloud. It's weird. I'll put in a label on the card, I'll see it for a split second, then it will disappear and give me a dumb error.
It only lets me add labels when the card is expanded and doesn't show them on the card at all. Not so useful. :(

@Ian Kleinfeld Hello! Since this post is focused on the command palette feature, any questions outside of that may get missed by our Community members and experts. If you have other specific questions, I'd recommend asking in the Jira section of the Community: https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira/ct-p/jira
