How to delete the whole site?
I've read "How to delete a site" , but it isn't work when it's 2024 now.
I would like to delete the whloe site (all things below this kind of url: https://example.atlassian.net/). Please help me deal with it, many thanks!
Hi @zenon_chiu
I understand you are looking to delete an Atlassian Cloud site. The only site you are currently a member of, you are not an admin of it. As such, you won't be able to directly delete this site yourself. The act of deleting a site will require an organization admin to perform.
The unusual part about that site is that it does not currently have an site/org admin. This likely happens when the site has but a single admin, and that user chooses to delete their Atlassian Account first.
Since this site is using a free plan, we can expect that the site will eventually reach the 120 day inactivity limit that is applied to free plans. After which the products on that site will be deleted provided that no users access that site for 120 consecutive days.
So in this case, doing nothing will eventually assure the deletion of that site. That said, if you want to try to speed up the deletion of that data, let me know. We would have to create a ticket on your behalf and try to follow our processes within support to determine if your account could be promoted to an organization admin. I don't know if it's always possible in all situations, but right now this isn't something you can self-service in this situation.
Andy
Thank you for your response.
I need to delete it ASAP, so that I won't mess up the sites (I'll create new one).
how can I do in the processes?

Hi @zenon_chiu
I created a support case on your behalf in https://getsupport.atlassian.com/servicedesk/customer/portal/23/JST-1035099
I am not certain if our team will be able to expedite the deletion process in this case because the site does not currently have an administrator. However if this can be done within our processes I expect that ticket is where our support team will work on this issue moving forward.

Welcome to the community @zenon_chiu
The process would include removing all of the subscriptions that your current organisation has, remove all of the domains associated with your organisation. Only organisation admins can actually do this.
The whole process is described here: https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/delete-your-organization/

Thanks for the information. I'd try it later, many thanks!

Hi, @Nikola Perisic . I've tried it, but it showed that I have no product or bill in Atlassian Admin...

Alright, so the organisation that you have deleted was your organisation. For the road project, you do not have the Administrators part which allows you to navigate and delete your organisations. Do you have another administrator with full admin rights and the access to admin.atlassian.com where all of the organisations can be seen?

humm...... this account was my only and first account.
When I signed up this account, I followed these steps to do settings:
so I may create the site without any orgnization. (I'm so confused)

All of the steps are looking good, except those from the 10th. At the sign up process, you are creating the organisation.
road-project.atlassian.net - this right here is your site
road-project - this is your organisation
My question is, when did you create the "1" organisation? From the screenshots that you have provided, you have successfully deleted the "1" organisation rather than the road-project.
As for road-project, from the screenshot itself that you have sent, there was no administrator section. This is something that shouldn't be appearing.
From this point, you would have to get in contact with the Atlassian support.

I create organization "1" at step 10 when the system ask me to create an organization. And "1" had been deleted after step 12.

Hello @zenon_chiu
Welcome to the Atlassian community.
Have you canceled or deleted all the product subscriptions?
Your request to cancel/unsubscribe takes some time to process.
Additionally Atlassian will keep your data available in case you change your mind and want to reactivate the subscription.
So, there is a delay between when you submit your subscription cancellations and when the products are actually deleted, which means there is a delay before the site itself can be deleted.
More information on this can be found here:

Hello, @Trudy Claspill . I've tried to delete the domain with Atlassian Admin. But I couldn't find any product or bill under it. What's going on?

When did you cancel the subscriptions to your products?
What steps are you executing to now try to delete the domain? What messages do you receive? Can you provide screen images to illustrate what is happening?

I didn't cancel any subscription. Deleting domain is my first step but can't reach. And I got no messages.
I posted some screenshots in the second comment below.

Hello @zenon_chiu
Let us first clarify terminology.
In Atlassian Cloud the structure is as follows:
Organization
|-- Site - with a URL like https://mySite.atlassian.net
|-- Product - appends to the URL like https://mySite.atlassian.net/jira
Based on the images below you have deleted the Organization named "1".
There is nothing left to delete with regard to Organization 1.
What more do you believe needs to be done?

Thank you very much, but the site is still there. (This site is created without org.)
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
That suggests to me that Organization "1" is not the Organization in which this site existed.
On the page you have shown above click on the Navigator icon in the upper left corner.
You may see just one or a list of Organizations.
Check each one, looking under the Products page for the site named "road-project"
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
You must be a registered user to add a comment. If you've already registered, sign in. Otherwise, register and sign in.
That indicates that you do not have Administrator access to the site or the Organization under which it exists. You will need to contact the people who do have that access.
If you did not Add the Jira Product to create this site, you would not have administrative access to remove it. Or, after creating it, another person with that level of access removed your administrator access.

When you sign up for the free product and create a new site, the Organization is automatically create and named the same as your site (road-project), and it would make you the Organization Admin.
Have you ever seen the Administration option in the Navigator? Had you ever previously accessed the parent Organization for the road-project.atlassian.net site in a manner where you verified that the Organization and the site were related?
When you click on the gear icon next to your avatar in the upper right, do you currently see any administrative options like "System", or "User Management"? Did you ever see such options there in the past before you deleted Organization "1"?
Did you ever invite other people to access your product site or give others Organization Administrator permissions in the Organization that includes the road-project site?
The "how to delete a site" reference you provided is to another community post that talks about first canceling product subscriptions. Organization will not allow deletion while they have any product subscriptions within them, but you say that you never cancelled your product subscriptions. And your road-project site/product subscription is clearly still active.
This is all suggesting to me that your site is within an Organization that still exists, and somehow you no longer have Organization Administrator access to it.
At this point I think you are beyond the support of members of this Community and need help from Atlassian Support directly. Towards that end I am escalating your post to the attention of the Atlassian team.

I don't see any orgnization related to road-project. "1" is the only organization I had.
I can see the setting button, include "user setting", "profile", or any other personal settings, but not site admin ones.
I had given access to the other account for testing, but I'm sure that it didn't have any admin power.
thanks for your help, what will happen after escalating?

Hi @zenon_chiu and welcome to the Community,
this article is fairly accurate still: Delete your organization | Atlassian Support
Assuming you want to delete the Organization and not just one site in a multi-site Organization??
Essentially, you need to cancel all subscriptions for products on the site, but you won't be able to delete it right away but will have to wait for the "grace periods" that are described in the article.
In my opinion this is really annoying but nowadays not even the Support will delete the site one day sooner than what the Admin page lets you.

Like I said and the article describes - you won't be able to delete the site/org right away anyway. But doesn't sound like you were in the right menu. The navigation to the correct button is states in the article.
