Boss wants to see velocity data by team over 4+ PIs. Can a velocity report be generated for more than 7 sprints? Ideally, I would like to export the data to Excel for graphing.
Hey Joe, the velocity chart in Jira only allows you to see velocity data for 1 team and 7 sprints.
This limitation was one of the reasons we created the Agile Velocity Chart Gadget—so you can add multiple boards as a data source and analyze an unlimited number of sprints.
This app includes three charts: team/cross-team velocity, individual velocity, and a benchmarking chart. The cross-team and benchmarking charts seem to fit you perfectly.
This is what it looks like 👇
Three charts for velocity tracking:
Analytics for 20 sprints would look like this:
And you can export data to Excel as a CSV file or to Google Sheets and update it in real-time using Live Data Link.

Hi @Joe Homan,
Unfortunately, it's not possible. Do you consider paid solutions? If yes, I would recommend trying the app I have developed - Multi-team Scrum Metrics & Retrospective. It allows you to show sprints that fall into a period of up to 2 years.
Other features:
It has a 30-day free trial period.
Best regards,
Alexey

Hi @Joe Homan ,
Welcome to the community !!
As an alternative, to track resource / sprint velocity as a dashboard gadget, I can recommend our app. The app comes with couple of gadgets to track team member's velocity in a sprint and also a complete sprint status overview. The app shows data upto 15 sprints.

Hi @Joe Homan,
The jira's Velocity report can display only a limited number of sprints (up to 7).
A solution would be to search on Atlassian Marketplace for an app that does not have such limitation.
If you are willing to use an app, be aware that our Great Gadgets app offers a Team Velocity gadget that lets you display the velocity chart for any past sprints.
The gadget offers also a Data tab with a detailed report.
You can find more about this gadget in this article: How to track scaled-agile (SAFe) projects in Jira with Great Gadgets app
