Keeping your sprint data fresh can be a hassle, especially if you're manually updating it all the time. But there’s a solution to skip the manual work. It automatically refreshes your data - just set it up, and you're good to go.
Say you've set up a perfect chart that tracks your sprint's progress. Traditionally, you might export this data to a CSV file and then manually update it in your external tools or databases. With Live Data Link, we simplify this process:
Once your chart is set up, generate a Live Data Link from the Export section.
This link connects your external tools directly to your chart, automating data updates in real-time. Whenever your chart updates—say, after a sprint closes—the linked CSV file refreshes too.
Live Data Link transmits only the necessary data without extra clutter. The link functions like a secure token, granting access to chart data based on your current permissions. If the access changes, so does the visibility of the data through the link.
Control is straightforward:
Deactivate the link to pause its function—reactivation is just a click away.
Regenerate the link to update its access point and secure its use.
Delete the link when it’s no longer needed, permanently removing access.
To maintain system integrity and prevent overloads, some boundaries were set:
Rate Limits: The link can be accessed up to three times every five minutes.
Activity Checks: Links automatically deactivate if not used for 30 days, with options to reactivate. Unused links are permanently deleted after 60 days of inactivity.
Google Sheets: Incorporate the link using the IMPORTDATA function to see your data refresh every hour, automating what was once a manual refresh process.
Microsoft Excel: Leverage Excel’s powerful "Get & Transform Data" feature to connect directly to the CSV file, allowing for easy data manipulation and scheduled refreshes.
BI Tools: For tools that may not directly support CSV links, like some BI platforms, try routing your data through Google Sheets or a similar intermediary as a workaround.
The Live Data Link is available in the Agile Reports and Gadgets and the Agile Velocity Chart Gadget. The free trial allows you to try them for 30 days without any commitment.
