This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Managing the email channel

In the Global Mail Settings, there is a Database Cleaner option. What this means ? After that period all emails (means tickets) will be deleted?

The service desk keeps a copy of emails in the database so it can do some basic threading (and it can be handy for debugging).  These can mean the database grows very rapidly though, and they're not really needed for much, so there's a cleaner option to purge them out after a period of time.

It only cleans out old emails. Nothing else.  It does not touch the issues.

Does that mean any attachments eg photos, docs are kept in the issue or are they also deleted?

No, it's just the email references.

The issue holds the attachments, not the email database.
