We have setup some automation flows that include a stage to set the assigned user to person who triggered the workflow. The flow is triggered by a branch being created in GitLab. The flow seems to run as the unassigned user (that is who the ticket is assigned to.)
Is there a way to get the automation flow run by the user who created the branch?
We have configured the developer panel using the https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1221011/gitlab-com-for-jira-cloud?hosting=cloud&tab=overview plugin incase that is relevant.
Hi @Ian Ashley ,
I don't think that this is possible at the moment, as the Smart Value don't mention the Branch creator etc : https://support.atlassian.com/jira-software-cloud/docs/smart-values-development/
There is a ticket logged to get exactly this, but it has not been delivered yet : https://codebarrel.atlassian.net/browse/AUT-1997
Let me know if this helps,
--Alexis
That change would be perfect. Would also allow us to record who did the merge following a pull/merge request. Shame I cannot watch it for progress or vote for it.

I also want this. Is there a public issue to watch for this? The only reason I want to use jira automations with github pull requests is for the author field.
