[Jira tips for all teams - pt 3 of 3] Coordinate product releases with marketing launches

Welcome to part 3 of our three-part series on how Jira can help all teams plan better and achieve greater outcomes in 2025.

The moment everyone’s been waiting for has finally arrived – that shiny new feature is ready to go live. Bringing a new product to market involves nearly every team across the org depending on the impact of the release. Disparate tools make it near impossible to drive a cross-functional effort such as this.

Teams need a centralized project management tool to plan their work, map dependencies, and ensure they’re tracking toward shared goals. Here’s how with Jira:

1. Project templates for business teams

Your tech teams may already being using Jira for agile project management, but did you know Jira can also help marketers plan campaigns, designers manage requests, event planners track budget, and much more? When it comes to a major product launch, having all work in one place gives teams the visibility they need to effectively coordinate and execute.

Jira has various project templates to help you plan your next launch:

  • Go-to-market template - ready to execute your go-to-market strategy? Coordinate all the important tasks and deadlines for your upcoming launch using a pre-configured workflow created by marketers, for marketers.

  • Email campaign template - track every task and asset needed to get the word out to customers and build excitement for the new launch.

  • Web design process template - coordinate work between designers and web developers to ensure the website is updated in time for launch.

  • Event planning template - celebrating the launch with a big event? Stay on top of budget and deadlines to host a memorable experience.

2. Quarterly planning with Program board

Planning product releases and go-to-market activities in Jira allows you to combine all related work into a shared plan. For example, you can bring a scrum board, go-to-market project, and filter for relevant design requests into Jira Plans to plan everything from product release to marketing launch.

Using the latest planning interface in Jira Plans, Program board, you can create and schedule tasks that each team must complete over the next quarter in order to successfully deliver and promote the new feature.

3. Cross-team dependency mapping

Additionally, you can map dependencies across different projects and teams. For example, Marketing may have a dependency on Design to get product screens for promotional assets. Identifying cross-team dependencies early on leads to more robust and flexible plans. If plans change, teams can pivot quickly with full visibility of the downstream impact.

Dependencies are surfaced in multiple views throughout Jira – allowing them to stay top of mind as teams execute. You can create and see dependencies:

4. Shared release dates

When it comes to go-to-market planning, everything ultimately boils down to the launch date which is very much tied to the product release date. Every team involved, from product and dev to marketing and design, needs to be aligned on timing to ensure a smooth and successful launch.

In Jira, each team can focus on their own projects while staying connected on important details, such as release dates. For example, releases scheduled in software development projects can all be added to the calendar view in a marketing project. This allows Marketing to be informed of upcoming releases without having to constantly check in with Software teams.
