Hi All,

Can an internal user create a ticket in Jira Work Management without having a license? I am trying to limit the licenses.

Thank you!

Hello @Diego de Azevedo

Adding to @Sushant Verma 's response if you choose to enable anonymous access to the project by granting the Create Issue permissions to Public, then anybody on the internet could create an issue in the project without having a license. However, the Reporter field would show Anonymous, not the name of the user that actually created the issue. And, of course, if does open your project up to anybody on the internet which is usually undesirable.

You could also allow unlicensed users to create a ticket by sending an email to a specific account for which you have set up email handling, as mentioned in this post:

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Is-it-possible-for-non-licensed-users-to-create-a-ticket-in-Jira/qaq-p/1709878

They would not be able to view the issue in Jira or receive notifications about changes to the issue, though.

Lastly, you could use an Issue Collector to allow your users to create a ticket through a separate site, which would insert the information as an issue in your JWM project.

In all of this, though, you need to determine if there is any other interaction with Jira needed by that user, such as being able to log into Jira to view or update the ticket, or being able to receive notifications about changes in the ticket. If all they need is to be able to create the ticket and have no additional interaction with it after creation, then the above three options are available.

Hi @Diego de Azevedo

Welcome to the community!

In Jira Work Management, the ability to create a ticket typically requires a user to have a license. However, it is worth noting that the specific permissions and licensing requirements may vary depending on your Jira instance's configuration and any customizations that have been implemented.
