how to add custom fields for Jira projects

I am looking for a (free) suggestion or solution to add custom fields for Jira projects. For example, I would like to categorise a project with more entries than jira's standard "category" for projects, or add a budget, or other information. Do you know if there is a free plugin or solution of this kind?

Do you mean that you want to have more attributes at the project level, as opposed to custom fields in the issue level? 

I have used before the paid app, Projectrak - Take control of your projects in Jira | Atlassian Marketplace 

but I just googled and also found this one, which is free -Project Properties for Jira | Atlassian Marketplace.
