User can't see all groups when sharing dashboard

Claire Berry

A user has reported an issue where he is unable to share a dashboard with a particular group. The User Directory which his account is from is configured with Microsoft AD, and the group he is looking to share with is also from this directory. When I try to share a dashboard, as an admin, I can see this group as an option. But his list of groups that he can see is far more limited. He has Browse Users permissions.

From what I can tell, it looks like he can only see groups that he is in. Is this expected behaviour? And is there a way to change this so users are able to view and select all groups when sharing a dashboard?

Hi @Sri Krish,

Do you mean from UI? if yes, then first you should have the System Administrator access of jira.

In Import & Export section you will find a Backup system.

Just mentioned file name and click on the Backup button.

Please have a look at this article for more information.

Thank you for your prompt reply. It seems like I do not have admin access, hence why I'm seeing "settings cog" on my dashboard.

Thanks

Sri

Hi @Yogesh Mude,

I got now admin access, i can see 2 options under backup manager.

1. create backup for cloud

2. Create backup for server

I really need to automate this process to a server so that we know it backing up every week.

Hope that make sense?

Sri

Hi @Sri Krish

Please find the Atlassian documentation to make automate the backup of jira.

Hi @Yogesh Mude

Thank you! I managed to complete first 2 steps from the documentation. I can't see any fields under "Add Service".

Hi @Sri Krish,

You can back up your entire instance by exporting the entire system. Similar question solved on the community. The export documentation can be found here.

To back up a few tickets you could run a search query, then choose the export option and choose your type of export, e.g. XML, Word, etc.

Hope this helps
