Is there a way to automatically assign watchers

I am creating a new issue type, that needs to have all the development team assigned as watchers.

Is there a way of automatically assigning users as watchers within a workflow or for a specific issue type

First make sure you got the right permission to implement the automation rules. 

"Anyone who has the Administer Jira global permission can create and manage automation rules across all of Jira."

Second, follow the steps below to set it up
1. Project settings > Automation

2. Select Create rule 

3. Select Issue Created

You can find the automation under project settings -> Automation. And follow the steps as mentioned above by @Zoey Wang

@Tessa Wiggin [Bynx] to do it in a workflow you would need to purchase an app.  You can use automation to add watchers.  If you need help making the automation let me know.
