How to sync JIRA defects from one JIRA license to another?

Jagriti Sharma October 11, 2018

One of our client is using JIRA for their defect management. We are using JIRA for our internal projects. Is there any way that whenever client logs a defect in their project, it syncs to our JIRA project.

Example:

Client JIRA portal - jira.clientxx.com raises defect ABC-123

Our JIRA portal - jira.ourxx.com

When client raises defect ABC-123, it automatically creates in our jira project as xyz-456.

Both of us are using different JIRA licenses.

The only way would be via a plugin. This isn't a function that Jira offers. There are numerous plugins that offer synchronizing abilities, like Backbone Issue Sync for Jira by k15 Software.

Thanks @Steven F Behnke for mentioning us.

@Jagriti Sharma, have a look in the marketplace for all the different sync solutions and make your own choice about a solution.

If you're interested in a demo about Backbone Issue Sync, please contact us via support@k15t.com.

Cheers,
Matthias.

@Jagriti Sharma, if you are interested I wrote up some instructions on creating a bi-directional sync between issues. here:

Hi

We're the developers of the Exalate Jira Issue Sync app.

What you're describing is a pretty common use case for our app.

You'll be able to synchronize any issue data of one of your instances over to the other instance.

This will happen in real-time. That way, you'll always be in the loop on progress status, comments, attachments (and even work-logs or change history)!

You'll be able to easily customize exactly what you'd like to sync and who you'd like to sync it with.

Like the following example:

usecase.png

If you want, I can show you exactly how it would work for your use case through a one-on-one demo. You can book one here: Book A Demo.

Does this answer your question?

@strygul, note that you need to disclose that you work for the vendor that develops this tool before posting about the tool, particularly giving what may appear to be an "impartial" positive review. See our guidelines for vendors

If you are mentioning your own products or services, make sure you include wording to make it clear that you are affiliated with the company providing those products or services.

Also note that if we see a pattern of behavior along these lines, we will escalate to the Atlassian Marketplace team. Thanks for understanding.

We are using Issue SYNC plugin to perform a one way sync of a specific project related issue type between two Jira Instances. If you are considering a plugin, you should evaluate both Backbone and Issue Sync plugins.

Hi,

R Kusumba thank you for recomendation.

I'm from Deviniti team.

IssueSYNC with easily solve problem with communitation between different teams, projects and Jira instances. What is more it support Jira Service Desk comments so you can decide what type of comment should be synchronized and which should not.
