Convert to sub-task is absent

Documentations says, if I need to convert an issue to a sub-task, I should follow these steps:

• Navigate to the issue you would like to convert.
• Select More > Convert to Sub-Task.

But I simply have no "convert to sub-task" menu item. Why? What should I do to convert it?

You can try switching to the old view to do this.

This matter was brought up to discussion in the New Full View Issue Experience eliminates convert subtask to issue feature bug. The workaround that is available for now is to either use the old view or issue navigator to convert sub-task to issue

I came looking for the same answer-- but Convert To Sub-Task is now missing from my Old UI More menu!
