same user name for two different users?

Hi,

 

We have a user that is trying to create two different accounts with the same username.

To clarify, let's say their existing username is joeschmoe@(ourdomain), they want to add a non-domain account into our JIRA system, joeschmoe@gmail.com.  We don't get an error message, yet the user name is not being created in Jira. 

Does JIRA not allow the addition of two different entries with the same username?

Absolutely not.  User names should be unique, or you don't know who someone is.
