I want to combine the best attributes of
- Wikipedia -> group edit
- Visual Thesaurus -> intuitive
- Visio -> drop and drag data blocks
I recently discovered this thing called a "Knowledge Wall" which exists on every new technology I encounter. I have to spend weeks or months figuring out who does what and at what level the company or person is related to a generic concept.
Take for example SOLAR POWER. There are people who do finance, installation, importing, manufacturing, blockchain, group buys, and so on. Identifying these people is painfully slow and tedious, because some are not registered with any government body but may be keystone players in specialised conversations on the topic.
Would it be useful ? To perhaps be able to edit and audit the logical relationships between companies and what they do ? I believe this type of information chart in a visual tree is pretty common but the people who produce them are experts in their field. I dont really have this amount of time to dedicate to sorting and sifting my own personal impression of an industry.
I would like to be able to identify contributors to a field of technology in a visually intuitive way. Rather than fuddle around with Twitter and close to 15 websites. Something I would also like to be able to do is look at where government departments are ploughing their grants (in delayed time) and look at which schemes out there are suitable for my own personal investment and collaboration.
