Why is JIRA latest version so slow an unpleasant to us

simon October 6, 2018

since updating to the latest version of JIRA which stated performance increases as one of its features the entire system is slow and simply unpleasant to use.  Have 100 users and most have complained.  On same hardware - which give a super fast experience.

This is a real shame as chose JIRA for the features and speed but mainly speed as much better than any other system out there.

Coming up for renewal and we will be considering alternatives.

Come on Atlassian, dont loose your way ...

Ok, so how are you measuring this?  And what are the versions (before upgrade and after, although given the date of the post, I'd want to assume 7.12 is currently "latest")?

Some of us would say "It feels slower" is not useful because it's not quantitative and humans are really very very bad at judging it, but I would still very strongly argue that while the metrics do matter, you should never ignore the reports of it.  At the very least, it is a starting point.

I've no doubt that you do feel it is slower.

But.  I ask because I've got a lot of people simply not complaining about 7.12 being more slow than older versions.  I've got two organisations very happy that JSD is so much "snappier" now than when they were on 7.2 and 7.5, which I think means "faster".  So the question is what you're doing differently.  Why is it slower?  Which bits?

It’s not subjective, gone from no more than a second a page load to 5 to 15 seconds for page loads.
