I've never connected 'Atlantis' with 'Atlassian', but I have connected 'Atlas', the Titan from Greek mythology... I don't think that's a coincidence.
We go on to tomorrow, the next day, and next week, and beyond. The next step is one foot in front of the other.
You wouldn't be wrong!
Atlas, whose role in life was to prevent the sky from falling by holding it up, providing an incredible service to the world. Atlassian strives to provide that same level of "Legendary Service" to each and everyone of our customers.

Although, as Charlie was "put to sleep" in the rebranding, Scott finally admitted the logo was horribly wrong
Atlassian called their mascot Charlie rather than Atlas, so in the first four images in @Daniel Eads posts, it is Charlie holding something up, not Atlas.
But, the imagery is wrong. Atlas was a Titan who held the sky up above the Earth. He did not hold the Earth up above <something>. So the arc above Charlie looks like the bottom of a sphere, but as it's supposed to be holding up the sky, it should be inverted - Charlie should look like he's holding up the sky, not holding up a globe.
