I'm trying to move my team away from using time estimates to story points as time estimates aren't working for us.
I've tried to add Story Points to the issue screen for the tickets I already have and can't get it to appear on the Tasks, only on Stories.
1) Is there an easy way to transition from time estimates to story points without losing what we've already done/estimated?
2) Does a ticket have to be a Story to display the Story Points field?
Great news - I've figured it out. Found an old response to a question and this turned out to be what I'd been doing wrong. This is what I did.
Thanks for your help @Jack Brickey
on the sprint board go to board settings > estimation and check the "estimation statistic" in use. It should be set to Story points. the issue does not need to be a Story issuetype to use Story Points for estimation. Typically one uses Story Points for estimation and time for logging work.

Thanks for help @Jack Brickey , I've tried following your suggestion - have made sure that the estimation statistic is set to 'Story Points' in the board settings - and I still can't see the Story Points field when I create or edit a task.
I've checked the screen and the screen scheme to make sure I'm looking at the right thing and double checked the issue screen scheme and I'm still not seeing the Story Points field.
Perhaps I have something else configured wrong? Although I'm not sure what else to check!
