The people have spoken ... we dont want to scroll up and down all day. Jira should be about efficiency ... this goes against your core purpose. Common product manger, do your job, listen to feedback.
I will add another voice to this. After trying to adapt, it is very annoying to constantly scroll back up to the top of a task. We pin the field in the right-side section for a reason 😊

I really dislike this change, it makes it so much harder to view and interact with the ticket status. I wish they roll this back or at least give us options to move it back where it was...

+1 for visibility.
Really dislike this change -- What's frustrating is they did this to make the Status indicator "more visible" -- It has always been visible in the top right.
Putting it below summary makes it less visible because once I start to scroll down on a ticket in a team meeting now my team doesn't know the Summary/Title or the Status.

Can you please give us the ability to change it back?

I've become wasting my time after Atlassian "enhancement" applied on my project account. I need to scroll lot of times per day just for the reason to check the Jira status, loosing my focus and being distracted from work item topic. Revert it back please or make it configurable

Please revert to the original position, as scrolling hides the status and is very frustrating. We should be able to choose where this field is located! It seems many of us dislike this!

Please revert it back to the original position, our users are so used to the previous design.

So when I want to change Assigne and status, now I must move scroll page and move mouse? You kidding..

I just had enough and spent some time creating a small userscript.
I share it here, in case it helps someone else: https://gist.github.com/msbence/3c87476c0ce3f1a0942d4c061e289a31
Ugly, and comes with no warranty, but hey, it works! :)

My suggestion would be to make it configurable - like many other field-positions. Otherwise, there will be always complaints.

I don't remember seeing this anywhere in the updates for the design! Is there a place to vote to return it or at least edit the location? The new place is not a great choice!

It has changed its position again...
Previous position: Above the Details tab on the right side of the screen.
Current position: Below the Jira title on the left side of the screen.

The same has happened in my Jira instance, however it seems to only be in my business projects, not software projects.

Please fix this and get rid of the UX intern that suggested it.

Existing Longtime Jira users have gotten accustomed and efficient with the status button on the right - at the top above the Details section.
New users who couldn't find it - needed to be trained and they could get used to it.
Moving the button after how many years - is extremely disruptive to existing users.
Why not at the very least allow us to choose where we want that button - like pinning it to the Right-Hand Section.
The current placement - Just below the Title is not ideal as the Title draws attention and the button goes unnoticed. When it was on the Right, it was the very first item in the List and was much more user friendly.

Hi Atlassian Team,
Thank you for continuously “optimizing” the user experience. The recent relocation of the Status button has certainly made an impact — just unfortunately not in the productive direction many of us were hoping for.
Previously, the button sat neatly at the top right, right above the Details tab — perfectly visible, easy to access, and aligned with how we actually work. Now, having it placed under the Jira title on the left means we get the added daily exercise of scrolling through long comment threads just to update a ticket status. While I'm sure this was not intended as a productivity challenge, the end result is that statuses are more frequently forgotten or missed, and tickets get overlooked. Naturally, that does wonders for both workflow efficiency and team morale.
If this change was meant to improve usability, the outcome suggests otherwise. When a UI adjustment increases friction instead of reducing it, perhaps it's worth reconsidering — especially when a large number of users are experiencing the same disruption.
It would be greatly appreciated if you could revert the Status button to its original top-right position, or at least provide an option to do so. A change that truly improves efficiency will always gain support — but this one has only added unnecessary burden to daily operations.
Looking forward to seeing this “enhancement” enhanced again.

Just got the change. It is a horrible placement, before i did not have to scroll to change or see that status of a ticket. Now i have to do both. And it was a WTF moment as i could not find it. I tis hidden under the title.
If you are going to destroy your UI at least let people move things around so we can use the UI with good UX.
