Set Approver field to the users from a group.

I made a group in Jira and added users to it. Now how do I set the users from that group as the default values for an approver custom field to be used in a workflow?

This way I can re-use the group and only have one point to manage if users need to be added or removed from this approval step.

As far as I know, there is nothing built into Jira Software or Jira Service Desk that allows you to do this out of the box. There's definitely some possibilities with Marketplace apps, though.

• You should be able to use the Set field value post-function from the JWME for Jira Server app. You'll probably need to write a groovy script to find and return all users in a particular user group, though.
• In the same vein, you can probably do the same thing with ScriptRunner, but JMWE is probably easier for this purpose.
• I know you can update the Approvers field using the Automation for Jira app, but it wouldn't be based on user groups. You can still list the individual users you wish to add as approvers, though.

I know, this is a rather old post. Has anybody solved this for Jira Cloud and JMWE? I want to set a user picker field in a transition based on a group.
