Service Desk and Plug In License Scheme

Sarah Dashow
October 6, 2016

We are currently using JIRA Software and Confluence with 100 licenses.

We are looking into adding JIRA Service Desk, and if I am understanding correctly, we do not need to purchase 100 licenses for the 4-5 Service Desk agents we will need.

However, how do plug-ins for JIRA Service Desk work? Are these tied to to the JIRA Software License? I would want to implement two plug ins for JIRA Service Desk only (not JIRA Software on the whole). Can we do this and only match the licensing for Service Desk?

We are looking at Canned Responses for JIRA and Extension for JIRA Service Desk if that helps.

Hi Sarah,

Licensing for add-ons is explained in the pricing FAQ section on the Marketplace. The extract below is from the Extension for JIRA Service Desk page:

So, in short: if you have 100 JIRA Software Users, you will have to purchase the Service Desk add-ons in the 100 user tier. Confluence is a different product and does not impact the license tier of your JIRA add-ons.
