We want to use some new fields in issues. I have added new Checkboxes type field. However, we have requiement that this field only be set by a specific user or group.

Are there any way of doing such configuration?

No. Jira doesn't do field level security.

Standard workarounds

1. The Quisapps field security plugin

2. Remove the fields from create and edit screens, add them to their own separate Edit screen and use transitions with those screens to edit them. Transitions can have conditions like "only group X" added to them
