Resolve Issue failure

I am using the Jira default workflow on a test Jira server. When I select "Resolve Issue" or "Close Issue" for an open bug, the screen becomes grey and Jira goes into a "wait mode" and never comes out of it. There are no errors in the logs either. Do I need to make any screen associations for the workflow to work?

Did that already - Chrome, FireFox and IE. Doesn't work on any of them.
