Make assignee non editable

Hi

For a custom JSM setup we would like to make the assignee NOT editable on the view screen. The case would be about a dispatcher who can only assigns users to the issue through an transition screen.

I've tried to remove the assignee field on the issue type, but it still is editable. Are there any other ways to make it work? Removing the assignee permission doesn't help either because dispatchers can't assign through the transition screen.

Hi @Brandon Raymaekers ,

You can change the permissions on your project so that nobody has the permissions to edit the assignee field except for a certain group or user (In your case dispatcher).

The permission in question is the "Assign Issues" permission.

Hope this helps.

Kind Regards,

Ash

Hi Ash

For this case we would like to make it non editable even for the dispatcher. The only way to reassign is to go through the transition.

Kind regards

Brandon

You could in theory add a condition for the transition screen to only allow a certain group to use that transition screen and subsequently the edit field (say dispatchers-group for example).

I would personally look into that direction and test it out until I got it to work how I wanted.

I've briefly tested the above solution on one of my test instances however I'm not sure if it can be done if the permission isn't given to the group so might be worth trying it anyway.

Hope this is of some help.

All the best,

Ash
