Good morning/afternoon/evening,
I've recently begun to take Jira courses through Coursera, and was wondering if anyone had any advice regarding truly getting used to Jira as a whole? I'm looking to gain career experience in order to enter the tech field, and Jira seems to be a common requirement.
Your thoughts would be appreciated, and I thank you kindly for your time.

Hi @Robert Reynolds !
Welcome to the Community! You are in the right place!
I agree with Renzo's advice about creating Jira Cloud account - practice, practice and practice again!
I want to recommend you Atlassian University - it is the best place, where you can all fundamental information about Atlassian products. You can find there free cources too.
The second advice is the Community video library.
And of course I want to recomment you article with my interview, where I gave some pro-tips.
Good luck and have fun!
I'll definitely give all of the above a try, especially the university; thank you for taking the time 😊 have a wonderful day/evening/night!

Hi Robert!
Good to hear that you've been studying Jira, it's a really powerful tool for project management (and a little bit more) but remember that it's just that.
Jira (and Confluence) are common requirements in the tech industry because it allows teams to easily manage and distribute work between the members of their team and company. What's important to notice here is that Kanban and SCRUM are frameworks used to create agile development processes not exclusive to Jira.
If you're not familiar with Agile I'd suggest giving a quick reading of this interesting article from the Atlassian main site.
I really think that digging into understanding agile and getting to know Scrum and Kanban before learning how to use Jira will be better on the long term.
But, if you'd like to keep learning how to use Jira with hands on experience, I would suggest setting up a free Jira Cloud Account and using it for whatever excercises your coursera course provides.
I hope this information is helpful and wish you all the best on this journey.
Kind regards,
Renzo from Servicerocket.
