Hi community,
I created a team-managed project and I’m configuring the board to make worklog entry easier.
What I’m trying to achieve is to group issues by Category (using the native Jira option).
I’ve assigned the Category ANAS to some issues (as shown in the screenshot below), but when I switch from the list view to the board view, the ANAS column shows 0 issues.
What could be causing this?
Also, if I click “Create” and add a new issue directly in that column, it remains visible for a few seconds and then disappears.
Hello @Damiano Di Battista
I have not been able to recreate your experience in my Free Jira instance.
Have you checked to see if you have any Automation Rules or workflow customizations that could be clearing the Category field in new created issues?
Have you confirmed that the issues where you see Category set are using the native, system-provided Category field and not another custom Category field that has been added to the project?
Hello @Damiano Di Battista
I would first check the board configuration, not the Category grouping itself.
In team-managed projects, a common cause is that the issue’s status is not mapped to a board column, so the issue exists in the project but does not stay visible on the board.
This boards are also very Filter dependant.

grouping by Category does not allow checking the column configuration.
If I switch the grouping to Status, I can correctly see all the issues I created, and they are all in the “In Progress” status.

So Category seems to be Blocker here.
