Importing Custom fields from Trello

Hi,

I'm trying to import a board from Trello, containing a (Trello) Custom Field.

Unfortunately after import, no CF imported... I even tried to create a CF (available in Global context, for all types of issues) inside Jira with the same name as my CF under Trello, with no luck.

Importing Trello CF is not supported by the importer ?! If so, the Jira documentation may mention it (or may mention which Trello Features are supported, and which are not...).

It's a bit disappointing to note that an Atlassian product like Trello is not fully supported by another Atlassian product (Jira).

Thanks for the help.

Hello @Matthieu Riffault

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

Per your description, I believe the Trello custom fields you are talking about are the ones provided by the Custom field power-up app, is that correct?

As this functionality is provided by a power-up and is not part of the Core functionality of Trello, this feature was indeed not added in the native import client built for Jira, once Jira next-gen project does not even provide all the functionalities available in the power-up, like "Display field data as card badges on the front of cards".

That being said, we agree with you that we have a room for improvement here, so we created the following feature request:

When importing Trello cards, include custom fields provided by the Power-up

Feel free to vote and watch the suggestion to increase its priority and also receive notifications about any updates.

As a possible workaround, you can use the CSV export/import utility, available on Business Class and Enterprise teams.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Thanks for your answer.

Yes, Custom Fields are "enabled" through a Power-Up, but I guess it's more a kind of a "commercial" choice than a functional one, from Trello teams (or maybe to keep Trello simple?). Because the data of this particular "Power-Up" (the custom fields) are documented and can be retrieve through the Core API of Trello. As you can see here, Custom Fields is not inside the "Power Ups" section of the documentation, but effectively in the "Trello REST API" section.

So it seems to me that it's definitely a part of the Trello Core, and therefor should be supported (and easy to support I think) in the import process.

Thanks, have a good day !
