Hi community, I need to know if it is possible?
I'm Jira Admin and the clients sometimes delete issues accidentally, so after that they ask me if I can watch or track if the issue was deleted? Due to they can't find it.
I know that the Market Place has some apps for that, but my question is about some native option in Jira?
In case that does not exist, is it possible to watch some notifications logs (e-mail) when the issue was created? in Jira System settings.
I hope you can help me! 🙏🏻
Thanks a lot. 🖐🏻
Hi, @Dario Alarcón. The simple answer is no. Deleted issues are deleted from the database and there is no "trash bin" or similar recovery mechanism.
Do you back up your systems? I know it's not the same as monitoring for this use case, but you may be able to find/recover deleted issues in your backups.
Therefore, I recommend that you disable the ability to delete issues and give users the option to "close" the issue with a custom status called "archive" or "trash" or something similar.
That way, you can monitor or find issues that were "archived."

Hello @Dario Alarcón
I agree with @Dave Rosenlund _Trundl_ that the ability to delete issues should be restricted.
If you are not open to using third party apps, you could consider creating an Automation Rule to send notifications when an issue is deleted.

However, there are limits to the number of rule executions that are permitted per month based on the instance subscription. You would have to assess if addition of such rules would cause the limit to be exceeded.

And I agree with @Trudy Claspill. That's a great suggestion (together with restricting the ability to delete issues).

Atlassian recently released the functionality to view the log of users who delete issues. I recommend checking out my post:

Thank you all for the answers. I enabled a notification when 'an issue is removed' in the default notification scheme settings, adding the project administrator role.
