Hey @Avinash A P ,

There are two ways to reactivate an account, and it depends on whether we're talking about managed or unmanaged accounts. Here are two articles that might help:

So, you would need to navigate to admin.atlassian.com and go to Users or Managed accounts (under "Directory") to reactivate a specific user. 👈

Hope this helps.

Cheers,
Tobi

Hi @Avinash A P ,

Deactivated users can be reactivated by site/org admins without data loss, but if it's IDP-synced, changes must start there. You can follow these steps:

  • Log in to admin.atlassian.com > Select your organization.
  • Go to Directory > Users > Search for the deactivated user (filter by "Deactivated" status).
  • Click the user > Actions (•••) > Reactivate account (if available). Confirm—takes seconds.
  • If IDP-synced (such as "Managed" status): You can reactivate in your IDP first (ex: restore in Google Admin), then resync in Atlassian (Directory > Identity providers > Sync now). User should reactivate automatically.

And if "Reactivate" is not an option (in case of permanent delete after 14 days or billing freeze), recovery isn't possible. This case, you should create a new user. Avoid deleting; deactivate instead for future.

And if you cannot find no button, then contact support: support.atlassian.com/contact > User management > "Deactivated user" > Provide email/site URL.

I hope the below links are helpful for you:

Hope everything works out well for you and happy new year to your team!

Best regards,

Peter
