How to I add an existing story to an Epic without using the Agile board?

I'm unable to tag the associated epic in the create story flow. How can I add this?

Attached are screenshots of the create story flow without the ability to link an epic and the configurable screen for a story, which doesn't allow me to add that epic field.

Hey Jessica,

You need to enable the "Epic Link" field on one of your screens (either the Create or Edit screen).

This should allow you to link a Story to an Epic.

Those docs look out-of-date. My gear button doesn't look like that and when I click it, it takes me to the bottom screenshot in my original post. Below is what my gear looks like.

Hi Jessica,

Not sure if you are still looking for this answer. I signed up for Jira Cloud and was facing the same issue. This is were you need to do it. Click to the ellipsis next to the issue name and you'll see the option of 'Add to Epic'. Hope this helps.
