How can I add default value or more visible guidance on a Jira Form

I am using Jira cloud for my project and would like to add helper text as default values or in a readily available manner for my form. It appears that jira software forms do not have this functionality, or I am assigning default values incorrectly. I am aware that I can change the title of a field within the form itself for how it appears, but I wanted to make certain multi-choice options default to a certain selection.

Hi Dalhart - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

Unfortunately, the default values and description text for Jira Work Management projects will not work with the built-in simple form. If you have a Premium subscription for Jira you can add Advanced Forms which would allow you to have those.

This can be done with custom fields in Jira. You can set default values and can add description text so users can understand what the field is about.
