Hierarchy task

Varvara K_ September 10, 2025

I need to create a functionality when a task is created, a child task is created from it in another project, I want to be able to view the entire hierarchy in one space. I found only the Structure plugin, which displays this well. But it is expensive. There is another point that, for example, a manager creates a task and delegates it to another manager of a structural unit, for example, this manager understands that this task must be transferred to another manager, that manager in turn assigns this task to a subordinate specialist for execution. This specialist cannot complete the task until another specialist does his part of the work for this task, he creates a related task, that specialist in turn understands that these are several subtasks and creates them. So, I need to display this work as a hierarchy. Perhaps it is somehow possible to do it so as not to create 1000 tasks. And somehow it is possible to move this task, while saving this task for each manager and at the same time organize the functionality for them to track work in THEIR task. So that they can see all the updates in their task. I understand that it is possible that it is impossible to implement exactly as I described it, but there are some other similar options

Hi @Varvara K_

A child from a Teak work item, would be a sub-task, sub-tasks can be in another project.

The only option would be to create a linked task, or other work item (story or else).

You could achieve this with automation.

But why do this like this, you could simply reassign the task to the person who needs to act on the task, so change the assignee.

Based on added comments the actions taken by others should be seen as the log of what happened to achieve this task.

Why "duplicate" a piece work to assign the work to someone else.

You could even simply create sub-tasks based fro part of the work and assign these to the relevant people.

Hi @Varvara K_

As an alternative app for hierarchy view, I can suggest

Issue Hierarchy

The app allows you to view your project issue hierarchy (cross projects as well) created with issue links as well as standard Jira hierarchy in a tree view. You can view %complete progress at each parent level. It rolls up the time tracking fields, story point or numeric fields at each parent level. The app can be added to a dashboard as well.

Disclaimer : I am one of the app team member

@Rahul_RVS For some reason it doesn't display subtasks for me, only related ones
