Export to CSV from a jira search exports user IDs, can it be user names?

when exporting issues from a Jira search result the users (e.g. assignee, reporter, etc) are exported as their user ID instead of the actual human friendly user name that is shown in the UI. Is there a way to export the actual user names?

This question has been answered here:

https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/After-EXPORT-option-Assignee-and-Reporter-names-are-not-appeared/qaq-p/1326505

As the other comments explain I would assume this functionality is on purpose.

My question to you would be why do we need to export this data to CSV?

Thanks, not ideal  but I guess is what Atlassian wants to do. In my mind for privacy or any other reasons, admins should have the option to set what to export IDs or names, depending of the purpose of the export.

  1. Use the Better Excel Exporter app to export to Excel. As you see in column "F" and "I", it exports user display names, but it can be configured to user names or anything else.
  2. From Excel, use the built-in "save as" function to save to CSV.

(Discl. it is a paid and supported app, developed by my team.)

Hi Miguel,

While exporting to CSV from Jira,  Select Export Excel CSV (all fields) , so it will exported both id and name of users (e.g. assignee, reporter, etc).
