Default Image Size for a User Look Up Field

Since our update to version 7.12, I have had a few complaints regarding the size of the default image that pops up when doing a user search. This is particularly a problem on the user portal, as it makes it difficult to see the username such as in the image below. Is there a way to remove / reduce the size of the image that it is using by default?
