Custom story point field - Really confused
Since the default Jira field "Story point estimate" isn't editable, we created a custom field named "Custom Story Points" where we added some text beneath it.
We then added the new custom field to the Default Issue Screen for our project and began adding story points to each story using this new custom field. Beyond that, we changed nothing.
Is it normal that our custom field ("Custom Story Points") is then automatically used in all places that story points show up/are used? Examples below include main backlog screen and burn down chart.
I ask as we want to ensure we're in no risk moving forward with populating this new custom field, and we're confused after reading a few threads where people ask to create a custom story points field, and then use scripts to copy the custom field's value to Jira's default story points field, so that it can be used for varying reasons/features within Jira.
