Custom field that allows for users to define values

I want a custom field where a user can type in a string and, if the string already exists in another issue, autocomplete. If it doesn't, allow the user to create a new one. What I'm basically looking for is something like the "labels" field but allow for spaces. Does something like this exist? Thanks!

You can create a custom field of type "Label". Have you tried that?

The problem with using the label field is that you can't have spaces in the values (see my original post)
