Create Issue Screen - What is the definition of the Labels Field?

In Create Issue screen, I would like to know what is the purpose of the 'Labels' field?

Labels are user-definable tags that can be use to help categorize your issues. Sort of like Components but not restricted to a specific defined list. a unique label is created for any text that is entered w/ a 'space' being the label separator. Labels is case sensitive

so if I enter 

Hello hello goodbye test

I would create (if not already in existence) these labels:

"Hello"

"hello"

"goodbye"

"test"
