Hello everyone,
I'm facing an issue with a Paragraph/Free Text multiline field in Jira Service Management. It should allow up to 32,767 characters, but I'm encountering a validation error when using longer text, even though shorter text works without issue.
Here’s what I’ve tested:
Has anyone else experienced similar issues? Are there any known constraints or settings that I might need to adjust? Any insights would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you!
I managed to fix how links are displayed by applying htmlEncode to each value. However, the issue arises when trying to access these links—they generate random errors such as 'Bad URL' with a reference number like: xhk_h73zlMZKkFUCF8PAaQ. The link being accessed isn't the same as the one originally pasted

Hi @Josh Costella ,
I wanted to clarify that the issue occurs in both scenarios, regardless of the presence of hyperlinks. When I use short text with hyperlinks, it works fine as long as it doesn’t exceed a certain length. However, when I input long text—whether it contains hyperlinks or is purely text—it fails to validate.

Is the field set as plain text or RTF?

Also, this is going to probably sound weird, but if you have Confluence, paste the text you intend to put in the field into a blank page, then copy and paste that text from the page into the field and try again.

I'm not sure at this point. It seems like it could be a bug. I requested Atlassian Support to check this out. Someone should reach out in the next day or so.

Hi @Brian Kirwa
Is there any pasted content in the field when you are experiencing this? Any hyperlinks or non-text content?
