Cannot edit custom multiselect field when issue is in DONE status and resolution

wojtek_pawlak August 8, 2024

Hi!

I created a multiselect custom field. It works perfectly, and as I'm going through the backlog trying to fill in this field in all issues I'm interested in, I noticed that I cannot edit in if the issue is in "Done" status and resolution. I see that it's possible for "Won't fix" resolution, which is strange.

Can somebody walk me through on how to make it possible to edit this field in the DONE state?

Thanks!

Hi Woytek,

I think you managed to nearly get the necessary steps together:

  • first make another custom field A.
  • Use Issue from the blue bar to search the desired issues (the ones you need to change, but have the resolution set).
  • Go to Bulk operation on the selection:
    • Fill field A with an arbitrary value, this is your safety enabling another lookup.
    • Clear the resolution field of all the looked up issues
    • Set the value of your own custom field
    • Set the resolution back to its previous state.
  • Use field A as a way to re-lookup your modified issues if something goes wrong

Happy changes,

Dick

This seems a little bit far fetched, but thanks!

To extend - much easier, and more elegant solution is just add New <-> Done transition both ways, and click two times more on each ticket. And not creating a mess with some additional custom fields.

The goal here is rather understanding why it works like that and if and how it can be changed.
