Can the Epic link field be configured so it only shows Epics from the same project as the issue?

I am trying to find a way to make the Epic link field more usable for our team and want to restrict the Epics that they are able to select by project

At present the users are able to see epics that have been created across all projects. 

Do  I need to ask admins for all the other projects to add security permissions to their tickets, so that the epics are not visible across projects?

Hello Nichole,

Check out THIS COMMENT on the Feature Request related to this functionality, describing how the Feature was implemented to allow more restriction to the avalible choices, but overall the intended functionality of the system is to be able to link to an epic in another project.
